Where does my body end and public consumption begin? Who is inhabiting my flesh? Am I in here?
Someone is in My House dives into the intersection of the female body, invasion of privacy, and paranormal possession. These themes converge to illustrate the vulnerability and agency of women in society.
The female body, a locus of societal fascination and scrutiny, often becomes a gallows where personal autonomy is killed. Throughout history, this boundary has even transgressed the physical realm, manifesting as a form of invasive possession that goes beyond mere physicality. Women’s bodies are often seen as purveyors of evil, controlled by nature and the supernatural, and seldom of her own control.
Bodily discomfort, coercion, and a roaming consciousness serve as metaphors for the myriad ways in which women's bodies and emotions are appropriated, controlled, or distorted by external forces. By blurring the lens between paranormal and corporeal, predatory intrusiveness, I seek to highlight the surreal and pervasive nature of these experiences, inviting viewers to question the boundaries and morality between our bodies.
